Radiator Repair and Overheating in Alanya
Summer temperatures in Alanya reach 40°C. A small leak in the cooling system that goes unnoticed in winter becomes an engine stranded in July traffic. Overheating is the fastest way to destroy an engine.
When the temperature gauge climbs into the red the head can warp and the gasket can fail — a hose worth a few hundred lira turns into a job worth tens of thousands. That is why we particularly recommend a cooling system check before summer.
We pressure test the system. A leak shows itself under pressure, not to the naked eye. The radiator, heater matrix, hoses, water pump and head gasket are each assessed separately.
Signs of a cooling system problem
If you are experiencing any of the following it is worth having the car checked. If you are not sure, message us on WhatsApp and we will give you an initial assessment over the phone.
- Temperature gauge rising above normal, or the overheating light
- Coolant level continually dropping
- A green, pink or blue puddle under the car
- Heater not warming, or only warming when you accelerate
- A sweet smell or steam from under the bonnet
- The radiator fan never running, or running constantly
- White smoke from the exhaust and bubbles in the expansion tank
What we do on the cooling system
- Pressure leak testing. The system is put under pressure and the exact leak point identified. No guesswork replacement.
- Radiator repair and replacement. A blocked radiator is cleaned; if the core is damaged it is replaced.
- Thermostat replacement. A thermostat stuck open never warms the engine; stuck closed it overheats it. It is tested before a decision is made.
- Water pump replacement. Usually renewed together with the timing belt kit; a leaking pump quickly leads to overheating.
- Hose and clamp renewal. Hoses that have aged and hardened are replaced before they burst.
- Coolant change and system flush. The correct antifreeze-water ratio is used and old, silted fluid drained out.
- Fan and fan switch testing. On cars that overheat in traffic but not on the open road, the fan is the first thing we check.
- Head gasket testing. If coolant disappears with no visible leak, a gasket test is carried out.

Frequently asked questions
My car overheated. What should I do?
Pull over immediately, switch the engine off and let it cool. Never open the radiator cap while it is hot. Once cool you can top up and drive to the nearest workshop — or call us and we will assess it.
Can I use water instead of antifreeze?
For a short distance in an emergency, yes; permanently, no. Antifreeze also raises the boiling point and protects the system against corrosion. It is necessary in Alanya even without winter frost.
How often should coolant be changed?
Generally every 2–4 years or at the manufacturer's stated mileage. Cloudy coolant with visible sediment should be changed sooner.
My heater is not working. Is that the cooling system?
Very often. Air trapped in the system, a thermostat stuck open or a blocked heater matrix are the usual causes. Checking takes very little time.
