Car Air Conditioning Service and Re-gas in Alanya
In Alanya air conditioning is not a luxury, it is a necessity. A short AC check before summer saves you from a 40-degree cabin in July.
The air conditioning is a sealed circuit; under normal conditions the refrigerant should not disappear. If the gas is dropping there is definitely a leak. Simply topping it up is a temporary fix — we test for the leak first.
A bad smell from the air conditioning is not a gas problem but a hygiene problem. Moisture and bacteria on the evaporator are removed with duct disinfection and a new pollen filter.
When your air conditioning needs a service

- The air conditioning not cooling as well as it used to
- A musty or damp smell when it is switched on
- Rattling or belt noise from the engine when the AC is on
- Weak airflow (a blocked pollen filter)

- No air conditioning service in the last two years
What an air conditioning service includes
- Recovery, vacuum and re-gas. The old refrigerant is recovered by machine, the system vacuumed and the manufacturer's specified quantity of gas charged.
- Leak testing. The leak point is located with dye or a gas detector. A re-gas will not last unless the leak is fixed.
- Compressor inspection and replacement. Compressor pressures are measured and the clutch and belt inspected.
- Condenser and fan cleaning. The condenser at the front of the car collects dirt; cleaning it directly improves cooling performance.
- Pollen (cabin) filter replacement. The most common cause of smells and weak airflow. Activated carbon filters are available.
- Air conditioning duct disinfection. The evaporator and ducts are treated with an antibacterial process, removing the source of odour.
- AC electrical and sensor testing. Pressure switch and relay testing resolves a compressor that will not engage.

Frequently asked questions
How often does the air conditioning need re-gassing?
In a healthy system the refrigerant does not escape. The general advice is a check every two years. If it needs gas every year, there is a leak that needs finding.
How do I get rid of the smell from the air conditioning?
A new pollen filter plus duct disinfection. The smell comes from bacteria growing on the evaporator; an air freshener spray is not a lasting fix.
Does air conditioning increase fuel consumption?
Slightly, but at higher speeds opening the windows usually costs more through aerodynamic drag. Windows are more economical in town, air conditioning on the open road.
How long does an air conditioning service take?
A re-gas and check takes about an hour. With disinfection and a filter change, around an hour and a half.
